Maybe someone here could help me find the correct camera for my application. This camera will point down a driveway, so I would like a day/night camera that could pick up a license plate at about 75 feet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you just want to monitor the garage, this camera with remote monitoring is easy and decent
link. If you want to see everything including picking up plates and account for fluorescent lighting then you might need a high end camera (if you
have a DVR etc.) like this one (if you have the money :-):

I looked at the Lorex system in Costco before buying a Nuvico DVR. The Lorex cameras do not seem to show a high quality picture. What Lorex camera would you suggest for my application?

Lorex has a ton of cameras and systems on their site that they don't
have in stores. I generally go to their deal area to see if anything
there meets my needs. Sometimes their highest end stuff is listed on
sale. These cameras might be high enough resolution for your needs.

I am interested in installing a camera by the front door to see someone at the door. Any suggestions on camera and specs I should be looking for?

you need something with wide angle lens 2.8mm. I'll assume that lighting is not an issue.

Hi Ringtone. A license plate at 75 feet @ night can be a real challenge. Do you have motion floodlights that activate when a car enters the driveway? Is there a place that the camera can be mounted closer to the entrance of the driveway?

I am glad you are answering my original question. Light is not really a problem because I do have motion floodlights. I am not sure where I would place the camera closer to the entrance of the driveway. If the camera were small enough, I could put it on my post lantern where guests walk up to my front door.

OK, what's your budget?

There's a camera made by Speco p/n HT-INTD9 http://www.specotech.com/cart/products/productDetails.asp?prodID=942 You can probably pick it up for about $450. If you can give up some of the focal length (more like 50' down the driveway you can back off to the HT-INTD10. That one you can pick up for about $325.

It doesn't use IR at night. IR and your floodlights could be an issue because when your floods come on they will temporarily blind the camera. I've used this camera and it works much better when you have floodlights. Also works well with plates because there's no IR relectivity.
