Please tell me about your cameras and software that you are using. If I have the same gear, I'll try to duplicate the problems and troubleshoot it for you. Let me know.

The only cameras I have seen that require "reset", actually require "reboot" which is not the same thing. I purchased some new Megapixel newtwork cameras cameras from Megarecorder.com and the reset sequence is actually a reboot for the firmware. It only takes a few seconds, and I can reboot from the remote client very quickly. Most changes don't require a camera reboot. I can think of several megapixel ip network cameras that do require reboots: IQinvision, some Arecont cams plus the new global shutter and progressive scan Megarecorder HD minicams which are my favorite network camera at about 40-50 % less cost of the Areconts and 30% of the price of IQeye cameras with lightgrabber. The Megarecorder megapixel 1.3 MP minicams are set up for plug and play as indoor mini domes and outdoor IR with their own IR in an enclosure. Some of the Lumenera and high end Mobotix MP cams produce better picturtes but not for the price. How about two cameras to three cameras for the price of one? You can't beat it. Keep the difference as pure profit. They don't have POE but thats actually an advantage. IR requires lots of current. Todays POE won't handle outdoor housing cooling, heating or IR emitters.
