You seem to have a very good camera line. I think dealers have a good choice to choose from.

Sanyo makes some nice cameras. I buy from a few "no name" companies when price is the subject... most of the time though I use Eclipse IR domes.. my customers like the look and the new strobe is cool

Your right Sanyo does make some nice cameras. The strobe on the Eclipse dome is pretty cool looking. Its diffrent. I actually saw these at a bar on South Beach. Pretty cool.

We prefer network megapixel high definition cameras from Megarecorder. Their cameras have several features that other network cameras don't have including: CCD sensor instead of CMOS sensor, global shutter instead of rolling shutter, progressive scan instead of interlaced, lowest light sensitivity of all the network cameras, built in IR illuminators for the outdoor cameras, outside weather proof housing included with the camera, and more. Built in DDNS, dual stream video (MPEG4 and MJPEG) selectable by CLIENT. No NVR is required for small systems (6 cameras or less), built in alarm sensor relay - input and output, in camera motion detection zones, in camera privacy zone, All camera features such as frame rate and brightness can be controlled remotely via Client using only a browser. I almost forgot, live recording can be done at either or both sides server and/or client. No transcoding is required.

All these features for less cost compared to similar class cameras (Arecont, Axis, Stardot, Mobotix, IQinvision). They sell the camera as a kit. They have zero tech support, but if you know what you are doing its a no-brainer to set up. The one pitfall is that the cameras are NOT POE, but that really doesn't matter since the old IEEE802.3 Af standard is being revised to include a new "T" standard. They recommend midspan POE injectors and active poe power splitters one for each camera. This can cut install costs depending on details of the installation.

The maximum POE power per camera under the IEEE 802.3 af STANDARD is now only 15.4 watts at the midspan injector or POE switch. This leaves you with only 12.5 watts for each camera on long cable runs. The question remains where do you get power for outdoor camera enclosure camera, heating and cooling?, IR illuminators? There is simply not enough power available under a pure single cable POE system.

We will see what happens with the new 802.3 A-T standard when it is completed? The new standard means new network POE switches, new cameras and new midspan injectors and splitters. Guess what? The Megarecorder non-poe cameras can be easily modified for use with the new standard as new Midspans and splitters are developed. There is no neeed to replace the existing cameras when present POE is the old af standard. Simply add new midspans/network switches and or poe splitters to support any additional sensors or alarms, as long as the cable spec supports the power. Thats one more reason why proper selection of CAT5 is so important.

I am interested in knowing the file sizes for storage. I am assuming you are not compressing the images as this would be a moot point. How about your live images? What are your standard fps? Just wondering I would like to check out a demo if you have one up. Send me an private email if you have something I can look at thanks.

Hmmmm... as a Dahua distributor I would have to say Dahua :) It's becoming better known now after having their DVRs selected for the Beijing Olympics - and has made it to no.34 on the A&S list.

I buy a lot of Ganz equipment. I buy most of my CCTV Cable and Equipment from CableGiant.com But I am open to hearing about other great suppliers and manufactures available out there. I guess the hard thing is that one you are good and comfortable with a particular DVR it is hard to get away from it. It takes time to learn software and time is money on the job site.
